The trek that ended in a trap.

Hey all/anyone/everyone,

sorry it's been a few days but nothing has really happened that's been note worthy until today. Me and Tom (@NounandtheNouns on twitter) went on a huge trek that led us to places neither of us has seen in the 2 and a half years we've lived in Bangor. The ultimate goal was the Treborth Garden Centre, it was so worth it.

Meet the guys:

Admiral Ackbar:

Simply because "IT'S A TRAP!".

Nerfherder (possibly Megatron):

Just because, oh and Megatron after Calvin Johnson and the fact that everything I currently own is named that.

God Bless.

One last thing before Bangor.

Hey all/anyone/everyone,

just another brief note for anyone around the Bangor area wanting to take part in the 10k run/jog, here is a link to the page:

God Bless.

The final stretch.

Hey all/anyone/everyone,

tomorrow I head back to University for the final stretch of my University life. 2 and a half years gone just like that, so many changes both personally and also to Bangor itself. I actually can't wait to get back to Bangor.

Things to be excited for:

  1. Seeing my University friends, in particular Tom (@NounandtheNouns), Dave, (@BuscuitDave) and Sarah (@Kaibaonfire), plus tons that aren't on Twitter/that I'm too lazy to include.
  2. Watching the Detroit Lions start their post-season campaign.
  3. Playing lots of video games.
  4. Starting swimming again after 5 years, plus the gym.
  5. Training for the 10k in May.
  6. A double bed.
  7. Filling in my application to Soul 61.
  8. Starting my new positive outlook on stuff in 2012.

Things that I can live without:

  1. An obscene amount of work.
  2. Paying rent.
  3. The wretched mood and feelings that saw me through most of 2011.
  4. Bitch Hill.
  5. Waiting for a response and possibly not getting into Soul 61 starting November.

Anyway, today I managed a 2.4km but I lost the details from the app which was highly annoying, yet still I'm proud I managed to push myself further before moving back to Bangor.

God Bless.

Victory at the close.

Hey all/anyone/everyone,

as I said from my mini post a little earlier I went to the cinema and since have returned home and just completed my second jog in two days. the cinema was also good.

The Cinema:

  • Film - The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
  • Length - About 2 and a half hours.
  • Opinion - Actually a really good film, don't let the length put you off if you've never read the book because it goes in a flash and is gripping throughout. I've never read the book or watched the original European film version, however, watching the English/American version has really given me the drive to pick my Dad's copy up and read the trilogy. Also the acting was immense, especially from Daniel Craig.
  • Favourite line - "CAAT!?" - Daniel Craig. Just funny.

The Jog/Run:

App used: Runmeter which was really decent.
Run stats:

  • Run time: 6:55
  • Distance: 1.07km
  • Av Pace: 6:27/km
  • Elevation 102 meters.
So this time I tried the pavement route, felt much easier despite the 20 seconds extra it took me. The reason that I'm sticking to around the 1 km mark in distance is that I'll be going back to Bangor on Saturday and will have to pick a new route and accommodate for hills, I'll also have the use of treadmills. In other words I'm achieving a short but comfortable distance as a sort of fall back for my new route planning come Saturday.

So anyway, cold showers are definitely my friend!

God Bless.

Just a quick note.

Hey all/anyone/everyone,

I'm currently watching the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, after this ill head home, do my jog and finish the evening playing FIFA with my old friend. Oh, I'll probably also give a little review of the film.

God Bless.

A woeful start.

Hey all/anyone/everyone,

So today my alarm went off and I got up and saw outside that it was as dark out as when I went to bed. Which sucked. I waited until 7 and it was the same, so I just made my breakfast and took my mum to work.

Today's Plan:

  1. Actually go jogging.
  2. Have a good day with my old mate.
  3. Get oatcakes for lunch.
  4. Work oatcakes off.
  5. Have more fun and cook a chilli.
  6. Pick mum up, eat and carry on fun stuff.
So this is the plan for today, stage one is going to come in no particular order in the plan.
Sorry!

God Bless.

Plans for a more sensible time.

Hey all/anyone/everyone,

tomorrow an old friend of mine is coming over for a few days, so as a result I have to take my mum to work in order to have the car to pick him up and generally do stuff. This means that my alarm is set for 5:45 in order to complete my jog of, I'm hoping, 2-3k (he's getting an early train and my mum starts work at 8, ouch).

Today (or yesterday) I Managed:

  1. To completed all the stages of my plan, save the last which was going out as things got in the way.
  2. I got out and made myself complete my test jog.
  3. I learned that a scarf is a good thing which will save my throat from feeling shredded.
  4. I ate healthy and didn't snack (bonus!).

So Tomorrow:

  1. An early jog.
  2. Have a great time with a great friend I rarely get to see any more.
  3. Plan a trip to the Trafford Centre on Thursday.
  4. Receive my new clip-on tuner.
  5. Have a relatively early night.

Now I'm going to grab the, just shy of, 5 hours sleep I'm really going to need.

God Bless.

Bon appetit and such.

Hey all/anyone/everyone,

stage 4 of today's plan is under way, however, it began fairly terribly. The British Gas man, despite fixing the central heating (which I personally don't use), has managed to dramatically lower the pressure of the shower, I know, I know, third world problems like these are terrible but anyway.

So the food which has passed my lips so far:

Breakfast:

fairly standard, just toast and Marmite.

On to Lunch:

The healthy lunch is just a simple apple and Clementine, with fresh apple juice, fruit salad with a glass of the juice, because its insanely nice.

Now:
So now I'm going to eat and proceed with stage 5, bum around.

God bless.

Today's 3rd Plan.

Hey all/anyone/everyone,

so I just finished my first jog, which was the test, just a note my throat tastes like blood it was that cold and breathing was that harsh. Rough. So anyway, the training for fitness and Bangor's 10k began with a 1.06k run/jog. Before I go into the details, here is a shot before the jog/run:

... Attractive right? Hah.

Details:

App used: Runmeter which was really decent.
Run stats:

  • Run time: 6:35
  • Distance: 1.06km
  • Pace: 5:30/km
  • Av Pace: 6:13/km
  • Elevation 109 meters.
For the record: The path I chose is known as the back path and is the worst surfaced stretch of path in recorded history, it's also up and down.

Now here is the mess I've turned into:

Pathetic hah! I'm much more red and sweaty than this picture really puts across. Anyway, plan number 3 done!

Now:
Now it's time for a shower and to get on with plan  4, Healthy lunch. Yum!

God Bless.

Today, the day of wind.

Hey all/everyone/anyone,

today is the day of the late JRR Tolkien's birth, who would be 110 if he were still alive. Also, however, it is possibly the greyest and windiest day I can remember in all my time at home, and the day that my new Ukulele gig bag is arriving. Today I am excited.

Today's Plan:

  1. Wait for British Gas man.
  2. Wait for my new gig bag.
  3. Go for a brief jog.
  4. Healthy Lunch.
  5. Bum around.
  6. Go out.
I'm genuinely excited for this test jog, it's wet and winding and therefore refreshing outside. Like I stated it is only going to be brief so I can set an initial barrier to work towards and smash. So wish me luck. The only thing that could actually dent my looking forward to this jog is that my new sound isolating headphones haven't arrived yet, sad times. Still, onwards.

God Bless.

EDIT:

Right, so, my new gig bag arrived. The box is definitely about 6 times too big for the size of my soprano ukulele gig bag. I may make a castle or something later. As for now I'm getting ready for my jog!

Before I leave.

Hey all/anyone/everyone,

recently via twitter (@BobPelican) I was alerted to a 10k by a couple of amazing friends I have at Bangor University. Today I decided to make this blog of weight-loss and personal growth and so have decided to make it my aim to run this 10k. My best friend and I Tom (@NounandtheNouns) will be training for it together and also apart, but ultimately we'll be running partners. I see this as a goal to aid in my weight-loss/fitness regaining goal so i'll also be keeping you up to date with a sort if running diary, I'll be using various iPhone apps to gain the best information I can about my running training.

God Bless.

The Beginning.

Hey all/anyone/everyone,
My name is Bob, I'm currently 20 years old and have tried many times to stick to a blogging regime. This time is different. The Blog will primarily be a weight-loss diary with some self professed whitish remarks, there will also be reviews of various products, games or music I've sampled and general personal growth events.

To get started here is me:

...Or at least it was in the summer of 2007, next Monday (when i'm back in Bangor) I'll start uploading weekly posts with images of my un-sucked up stomach (I'm sorry in advance) to document a. How much weight I've since gained and b. So I can see the weight coming off... I hope.

So until then and in between I'll blog about various things I'm eating and doing, and my general cynical (or not so) opinion on things.

Byee.

P.S. I'll work on that sign off ending thing.
